Ex-residents of Maitland, South Africa, are dispersed throughout the world, and many would have just loved to be in Cape Town in December 2005 to be part of the re-union. This website, therefore, is a way of sharing the event with the greater ex-Maitland population - a kind of virtual re-union. A big "thank you" to those ex-Maitlanders who searched through their albums and provided photographs for the visual display. Most of the people we were in contact with have specifically asked to view the display, and for that reason all material that was prepared for display at the re-union event, as well as material that was subsequently submitted, has been made available on this website. Please visit the photo galleries. Messages that were received from ex-Maitlanders prior to the event have been made available in the message centre. An attendance fee of R100 per head was requested to cover costs. This turned out to be more than what was needed, and this resulted in a surplus of R1000, which was subsequently donated to ORANJIA JEWISH CHILD & YOUTH CENTRE on behalf of all ex-Maitlanders who attended the re-union. Copies have also been donated to the following organizations in Cape Town, in the name of the ex-Maitland Jewish community: THE KAPLAN CENTRE FOR JEWISH STUDIES AND RESEARCH THE SOUTH AFRICAN JEWISH MUSEUM THE GITLIN LIBRARY Additional copies (DVD or VHS video) are currently available at a cost of R25.00 (South Africa) or $25.00 (outside South Africa).
